I didn’t watch much tv yesterday, but I did manage to catch the second episode of Fat March. What a great reality show! If you haven’t seen it, there are a group of fat people walking from the Boston Marathon to Washington DC. I think they are taking 10 weeks to walk the 500+ miles.
One of the things I don’t like about the show is they refer to Anthony as a virgin. Okay so the kid is a virgin. I’m sure there is more about his life than that. Why do they have to label him as the 25 year old virgin? Who cares about his sex life. Griefers! Other than that, I enjoy watching the show.
I managed to get up and move during most of Fat March. Some of my moving was warming up and some of it was cooling down. I even got back on the elliptical machine and stayed on it, at a nice even pace this time. I realized I’m not running a race here… I don’t have to go full throtle on the machine. I stayed on it throughout an entire commercial break! And I wasn’t completely out of breath when I got off! Yeah!
My five turned into 60!
Okay, so yesterday I said I was going to move my elliptical machine out of hiding. Well here she is! My old best friend is back and ready for action in our family room.
Although, she’s not center stage. I don’t have that great of a relationship with her anymore, but we are working on building our relationship up to what it should be. So she’s actually stage left… but this is good! At least she’s not being used as a spare coat rack anymore, and we can see the tv while working out.
I tried it earlier… a minute is all I’m worth for now. I was almost to a huff-puff… I’m out of breath… let me sit down… at 90 seconds. LOL I’ll have to continue walking and build up from there. Since I’ve moved her stage left, my boys have all been working out a little. This is a good thing!
I stepped on the scale first thing this morning. After the initial shock, I thought, it’s a good thing I finally got around to doing this. What if I did’t take control. Where would I be in another 6 months? But now I am going to start taking control, so 6 months down the road will be a different story than it could have been. I’m glad for that.
I haven’t set any goals yet. I need to figure out a good healthy weight for me. I know I felt great when I was down around 130, but that was a couple decades ago LOL! I don’t think I’ll go that low now. I’m thinking more around the 140 – 150 range. I’m in my mid 40’s and I’m 5’7″. I don’t know if age makes any difference in what my goal weight should be though.
So this is something I never thought I’d do… post my weight for the blog world to see. *shudders at the thought* But here goes…
8/11 weigh in: 268
I haven’t led an active lifestyle in years. That’s all changing as of August 9, 2007!
I love to sit in my big old recliner while I watch tv and that’s getting me nowhere fast. I’m not going to give up tv. Oh goodness, no! Instead of giving it up, I’m going to use it to my advantage. Every time there is a commercial break, I’m going to get up and move for 5 minutes.
I figure there are at least 4 commercial breaks during an hour long show. That is equal to 20 minutes of getting up and moving per show I watch! I’m excited by my new plan.
I’m going to time myself from now on, so I know how much time I’m spending exercising. This might not sound like a great plan to some of you, but it’s a start in the right direction.
What will I be up and moving to?
- General Hospital
- Martha Stewart
- Big Brother
- Fat March
- Biggest Loser
My list is subject to change LOL and no, I don’t watch every show each week. But if I’m watching tv, that is more than likely what’s on.
