After talking about it for some time, I finally did some shoe shopping. I know, girlie girls usually love shoe shopping. Well, maybe I’m not so girlie after all. Oh let me tell ya, it was a major chore.
I’ve learned a few things about myself the past few months. I’ve decided I’m not doing the couch to 5K so I don’t need running shoes. I love aerobic dance, so it’s part of my exercise routine. The elliptical machine is part of my daily routine, and I walk a little. Okay, so that narrows it down quite a bit. I was looking for a cross training shoe.
After hours… literally… *huge major sigh* I tried on just about everything, in the greater Seattle area, that was a wide width. Okay, so not so litterally on that point… but it sure did feel like I’d been into every shoe store by the end of the day. I ended up with a New Balance shoe in a men’s 4E. See… really not so girlie girl at this point. But I love my new shoes!
Something about new shoes makes me want to get up and do more than my 5 minutes during commercial breaks…
I’m getting in plenty of exercise this week. First of all we’ve been packing up and moving out my FIL’s stuff. Reaching high, bending low, scrubbing everything clean… clean… clean… I feel like I haven’t sat down to rest in days. Of course, that isn’t the case… but it feels like there hasn’t been a moment’s rest until yesterday. Hubby turned the keys over to the apartment manager on Sunday. The apartment is spic and span clean.
Yesterday DH and I took a break from everything. We sat down with our daughter and grandbaby during lunch. After lunch he went back to sorting and cleaning some of the boxes of stuff we took to our home, while Andi and I went shopping. We walked… and we walked… and we walked some more. Walked with a few breaks here and there to actually shop.
Andi spent the night with our oldest kiddo, so I’m home alone today. I don’t know why, but I can work better when I’m home alone, so I was up early this morning, and I’ve been cleaning high and low all morning long. Oh the things we neglected here, while we were at his dad’s home. Not only did the daily cleaning get neglected, but my usual fall deep cleaning didn’t get done. So here I am today, trying to get it all done within a couple days, just so I can get the Christmas tree up and the house decorated before 2008.
I think the climbing up and down my small step ladder, bending, dusting, cleaning mirrors and windows, vacuuming, moving furniture, etc… is quite a workout.
In my last post I mentioned I was going for a walk with my daughter, Andi and my grandbaby. Well we finally got out the door and drove into town for a walk. One of my boys called to see where I was. When I told him of our plan to go for a walk, he asked if he could join us. Sure!
It was early evening, but with the short days, the sun was down and all the Christmas lights around the historical district were on. As we were walking we’d see a pretty display down one block, so we’d head that direction. On the next block was another display of lights… to pretty to pass up, so we’d head down that block. As it turned out, our little walk around the block turned into a stroll about town. It was so cold, I wasn’t too sure about going on such a long walk, but baby girl was bundled and cozy in her stroller. She enjoyed the lights and the stroll. I enjoyed the time with two of my children. It was amazing how we got back to the car and we were talking about how far we must have walked, but it didn’t seem like it at all.
I’m happy to have a walking partner… or two or three. I think we’ll make this a daily family activity. Maybe the other boys will join us once they hear about how much fun we are having.
